About the Project
How We Work
Project Denkmal – Bodil Begtrup is driven by more than 85 volunteers – including retired civil servants from the public and private sectors as well as NGO/IGO representatives – all of whom contribute knowledge, networks, and experience.
We work in groups across disciplines, both in person and digitally. The aim is to spark interest in everything Bodil Begtrup fought for.
The project is supported by, among others, Bodil Begtrup’s family, researchers, historians, the Danish Women’s Council, Save the Children Denmark, the Danish United Nations Association, Forbrugerrådet Tænk, the Organisation Living Human Rights, the Danish Foreign Policy Society, Nyborg Municipality, and others, thereby reaching more than 1 million citizens.

DENKMAL
Why have we chosen the German word Denkmal as the title of our project?
Bodil Begtrup took part in the work of drafting the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948. The introduction to the Declaration states:
“Recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world”
Denk mal (think for a moment…) about the meaning of these words.
